          Are you as glad as I am that Winter is over? I am ready for flowers, green lawn, sunny days, lots of birds and temperatures in the 60's and 70's.

          You probably know that the price of gold and silver has increased considerably in the last few years. Since I buy supplies wholesale, most of the gold-filled and silver items I have  now were bought at a much lower price than what they would cost today. As of this morning, the price of gold per bullion was $667, compared to about $558 by the end of January 2006; and the price of silver is $13.34  per bullion compared to about $9.57 also by the end of  January 2006.  In this industry, when you price a new piece, it is recommended to price it using the cost of the precious metals at the time you create the piece.  I think this is mostly due to the fact that if later on you have to create more pieces of the same design, the precious metals will cost more. Since most of my jewelry items are one of a kind, I do not follow this rule and price them based on my original cost. This means that when you buy a piece of jewelry at Arts Variety, it's value is more than what you pay. On top of that, most of our jewelry is on sale until the end of the month. So take a look at our jewelry. I'm sure you will find something you like.

          The newsletter digital scrapbooking freebie is a pack of papers and a pack of templates. The colors of the papers are great for Spring. The templates are available as layered and as one page template. Instructions for their use with Photoshop Elements are included, but if you use a different software you should be able to adapt these instructions to your software.
